Maria founded Stansfield Sports Injury Clinic in 2012. Maria studied Sports Science in 2005 at Edge Hill University specialising in Biomechanics, and gained a Bachelor of Science degree with honours. Maria then went on to complete her Master of Science degree in Sports Therapy at the University of Central Lancashire, which allowed accreditation to The Society of Sports Therapists. Maria has completed specialist training in Acupuncture for Sports and Musculoskeletal conditions.
In 2018, Maria gained her Chartered Scientist accreditation from The Science Council, which is a highly respected status. In 2019, Maria won the Bolton Health & Wellbeing Awards “Unsung Hero” Award after her clients voted for her. Maria has recently completed in-depth training in Women’s Health to be able to offer such services to her clients, following her own Pregnancy. Maria has a wide array of experience in elite sport including 8 years with Wigan Warriors Rugby League First Team, with 3 years as a Consultant Therapist to the First Team. Maria also worked with England Rugby League First Team for several years. During her time with Wigan Warriors she contributed towards their success of winning the Super League Grand Final twice, Challenge Cup twice and the World Club Championship.
Additionally to her experience in Rugby League, Maria has worked for most of her career with Runners of all abilities including Olympic and European, with a speciality in Marathon, Ultra Runners and Triathletes. Maria has also worked for many years with Boxers and MMA athletes of different levels from amateur to professional. Maria has also more recently worked with Manchester City Women’s Football Club. Maria’s main area of interest is the foot and ankle; conditions including stress fractures, shin conditions, plantar fasciitis and tendinopathies.
With Maria’s background in Biomechanics and additional training, she is able to custom make orthotics. Maria also has a wide array of experience in post- surgery conditions and rehabilitation including: ACL reconstruction, Shoulder labral repairs and stabilisations. Maria also treats childhood and adolescent conditions such as Juvenile Arthritis and growth plate fractures, as well as Women’s Health pregnancy and postpartum related conditions.

Jonathan founded Jonathan Collier Injury Rehabilitation in 2017 after originally teaming up with Maria in 2015. Jonathan graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Sport Rehabilitation from the University of Bolton and then went on to complete his Master of Science Degree in Sports Injury Rehabilitation at the University of Salford in 2017. This allowed Jonathan to become a fully accredited member of the British Association of Sport Rehabilitators and Trainers. In 2016 Jonathan completed specialist training in acupuncture for Sports Injuries and Musculoskeletal conditions.
Jonathan's most recent accolade was being nominated for and ultimately winning "Best Service - Greater Manchester" at the Fitness & Nutrition awards 2020 and "Therapist Of The Year" at the Bolton Health & Wellbeing awards. He is in the final of this category again for 2020⠀⠀
Jonathan's sporting experience is a collective of; professional and academy level rugby league, professional boxers, Olympic wrestling, Ironmen, competitive bodybuilders and football. Most recently working with Manchester City Women's Football Team
Jonathan's main area of interest and expertise is the neck and spine; including sciatica, spondylitis, management of disc injuries and nerve compression. With Jonathan's interest in strength training, he is able to specifically measure and analyze data for strength and force output of individual joints. Jonathan also has experience with full rehabilitation of ACL reconstructions and procedures on the shoulder such as Lartajet.

Gus studied his degree in Sports Therapy and graduated from The University of Central Lancashire with a BSc (Hons) in 2009. Gus is fully insured under the Society of Sports Therapist and a member of the MSST.
Gus is our Consultant Senior Therapist who also works at his own Clinic Performa Therapy in Leyland that he established in 2009. Gus and Maria have worked together since 2015 to allow our clients to experience the exceptional service that they deserve, provide inter-clinic learning and development of resources.
Gus worked as Head Therapist at Bamber Bridge Football Club for over 6 years, Blackburn Hawks Ice Hockey Team, Preston North End academy, Manchester City Women’s Football, England Rugby League, Wigan Warriors and the Sydney Roosters RFL team whilst they were in the UK for the World Club Challenge.
Gus is very interested in all things musculoskeletal including the fascia - from its anatomy to its function and pain. He has an interest in the knee and shoulder joints, both of which can impact greatly on function and performance, and along with the lower back have many myths around them.
Other topics of interest Gus has is in helping people with performance, since starting the clinic he has closely worked with runners so has undergone many session and research in this area to help people from injury to performance training. Pain is a big topic for Gus, from understanding it to helping people improve their understanding and their tolerance to it through education and exercise i.e. movement!
